I don’t think it’s possible to miss anything, because the class trial won’t trigger until everything has been examined – which I think is a bit of a shame.

You basically just go around and examine everything, gathering truth bullets. I’m sort of on the fence as to how much I really like the investigation phase. The soundtrack and class trial both were really enjoyable.
